What Do You Get for What You're Giving Us ?
FAQs
Why is the minimum age 16?
The festival insurance doesn’t cover anyone working or volunteering who is under 16.
I would like a specific role, will this be guaranteed?
We try to match roles with people particularly if they have had previous experience or can demonstrate the skills to perform the tasks. We want to ensure everyone gets their choice, but there may be times where you are asked to support another area to cover breaks or specific situations. Role descriptions are within the ‘sign up’ document we wish you to complete where you will be asked to state your preference.
What is the minimum time commitment for volunteer roles?
You can work as little as 4 hours which are afternoon or evening. 4 hour shifts are in the afternoon from 4pm-8pm and evening shifts are 8pm-midnight
6 hour shifts start in the morning at 10am and finish at 4pm.
Your rewards are detailed in the volunteer matrix above.
When will I find out role and shift?
You will get a confirmation that we have received your request to volunteer within 48 hours of sending your email. Allocation of roles will begin in May and you will be matched with your availability and a confirmation email will be sent.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
No, we are an independent festival and unlike other festival volunteer organisations, we don’t ask for a deposit, it’s all done on trust.
How will I get my tickets?
When you arrive for your first shift, unless you are coming to the festival before you work, you’ll get them before – we are trusting you to turn up.
Will I get a break?
There will be refreshments available such as water, but no official break. Please do not wander away from your designated area until you have finished your shift.
Can I eat and drink on shift?
Water is fine to consume anytime. Food must be eaten out of sight of the public. Strictly NO alcohol on shift, no exceptions. This also includes if you are working a later shift.
Do I get free food and drink at the festival?
Marvellous will provide you with a drink and food voucher on the live days -Saturday and Sunday (depending on your shift time) and on non-festival days you will need to bring your own food. The food and drink voucher are for the green room and your own consumption, so must not be given to someone else.
You will have the opportunity to use your food and drink vouchers when your shift has finished.
Can I finish early?
The next shift starts after the last one, so this would mean we are short of volunteers, so you will be required to work until the end of the shift.
If I sign up, then can’t do it, what do I do?
We know that things happen, we don’t ask for a deposit, but if you can let us have as much notice as possible so we can try and get a replacement. It’s difficult to find people last-minute, so if you know in advance, please let us know as early as you can.
Can I swap my shifts?
It is possible to swap shifts if a slot is available, please email volunteers@marvellousfestivals.com
Can I get more tickets for friends, family and my favourite charity?
Yes, there are plenty of shifts you can do to earn these, please email volunteers@marvellousfestivals.com. You can also get 20% off extra tickets.
I have no experience, but I’d like to volunteer.
We have some really experienced volunteers who return year on year and they will guide you, there is nothing difficult to do, all you need to start with is a happy smile.
Is free camping included?
Yes, free camping is available to those doing a minimum of 1 x 6 hour shift.
Is car parking provided?
Yes you will get a free car park pass which allows you access to the staff car park.
Can I get a free campervan pass?
Campervan passes are not included in the volunteer package and must be purchased separately via out ticket page.
How will Marvellous stay in contact?
A What’s App group will be set up to enable volunteers to ask any questions/ share any thoughts, this is not mandatory although is a great way to communicate. You are able to opt out of this if you wish. Follow up communications will happen 4 weeks prior to the festival and there will be on-line and face to face briefings on site a few days before.
What do I wear
Casual clothing and shoes according to the weather. We will provide you with a high vis vest to identify you as a volunteer.
